Hi Harvey, you mentioned that you found it a little strange that I would go to three universities and spend all the time I did. At one point I was asking myself what I was doing, but looking back now I find myself wondering why I actually didn’t attend more schools and spend more time. My reality is that while I certainly had some fun and learned some stuff, none of it really grabbed me. Not to the point where I could tell myself “This is what I think I want to do.”
Regarding Sir George, they had a relatively new Computer Science program. While at Vanier CEGEP, I had picked up some computer programming and I found it fun. Upon graduating from Vanier, I knew I wanted to go on to university but not where or why. The coolness potential of working with computers attracted me to Sir George. Unfortunately for me, I quickly grew bored and found that I wasn’t willing (or capable) of matching the geekiness factor required. I probably spent more time playing chess (while having the odd beer ...). While I passed, I had made up my mind that this was not for me. So I moved on ...
Just for a reference point, I always wanted to be either a baseball player or an astronaut ... or both ...
I remember my dad used to say sir George wasn’t just called SGW, but SGWB because everyone had to explain why they chose it. As in, “I go to sir George Williams because...”
